There is another retouch at lower right, also probably a repaired tear. On the shoulder and arm at right, are some long strokes of reddish pigment that fluoresces, but these are almost certainly original, as they are of a totally different character than the retouches. Seen in raking light, there is much cracking, but it has been greatly reduced by the relining. All of the retouches are skillfully done and minimal

A Late 16th / Early 17th Century Korean T'aenghwa Painting on Silk.

Chosun Dynasty pigment on silk depicting the seated Tejaprabha Buddha surrounded by deities and attendants

Sight: 40" x 68" Frame: 51" x 79"

$5,000/$7,000

Condition: This piece is framed securely and behind plexiglass. It was examined and photographed within the frame so as not to risk damage. There are wrinkles and undulation throughout so it is of our opinion that the painting is not mounted or at least not fully mounted. There are some folds and creases in the painting in various spots, some areas with loss of pigment, and the surface is darkened with age. Overall, the condition appears to be quite good with the exception of age appropriate wear. There are character marks at the lower left and right corners, the right corner being much easier to read. The left corner is quite faded

Two acrylic paintings on masonite, 1973, unframed. Provenance: MCA Auction, Chicago, 1973. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago (MCA) held a benefit auction in 1973. In this auction were five Mystery Boxes, each containing miniature works created by various Chicago artists for this event. The boxes were offered sealed and the buyer did not know exactly what was inside. The boxes themselves were finely crafted by Chicago artist Don Baum and were made of pine with brass hardware, with various stencils on the outside. Baum made individual cardboard boxes for each work, packed in yellow foam. Some works were multiples, others unique, but the contents of each Mystery Box varied. These works have never been offered for sale
